Staying Independent

If you are struggling with everyday tasks, then simple equipment, practical aids, new technology or small changes to your home can make the difference between living independently and needing someone to help you or it can make caring for someone easier.

Good SAM – request for volunteer

You will be able to select the type of support needed and the frequency of that support. Once complete, the request will be submitted and the referrer will be sent an email asking to confirm the request. Once confirmed, the referral will go into a matching process and volunteers who are ‘on duty’ will be able to accept requests.

Community transport

If you have difficulty using public transport, or you just need some support to get out and about, there are a variety of community transport schemes in Surrey that can help including Dial-a-Ride services, along with Good Neighbour schemes which can offer scheduled services or door-to-door transport, e.g. to supermarkets and doctors surgeries.

COVID-19 remote monitoring support for older people with mental ill-health and their carers

The TIHM Monitoring Service is a new, free NHS service that is remotely monitoring the health of older people with mental ill-health and their carers during Covid-19.

The service, which is currently accepting referrals, is free of charge and available to people of any age diagnosed with dementia or mild cognitive impairment and people aged 65 and over who have a diagnosis of depression and/or anxiety.
